Bypass Operation in Soft Starter Systems
After the motor soft starting is completed, the vacuum contactor acts as a bypass switch and closes rapidly, short-circuiting and cutting off the soft starter (thyristor assembly) that was connected in series during the starting period. This not only effectively avoids the massive thermal loss generated by long-term power-on of the thyristors and extends their service life, but also reduces the operating power consumption of the entire system.
Uninterrupted Switching and Protection in High-Voltage Inverter Systems
In high-power high-voltage variable-frequency speed regulation systems, switching devices act as bypass switches (often cooperating with disconnectors to achieve safe isolation).
